Eli nyt Tein tällaisen metallisen ruusun vaimolle lahjaksi kun hän täytti pyöreitä. Tämä ei kuihdu ja kuole aivan heti. Eipä tarvi joka vuosi ostella ruusuja.... Vitsi vitsi.

Huomasin tällaisen ruusun jossain Facebook ryhmässä, missä se tehtiin paperista ja ajattelin että senhän saa tehtyä metallista samalla tavalla kun käytetään vaan vähän lämpöä peltiin 😉

Tuli vain vähän kiire kun keskiviikkona töissä hoksasin tämän lahjan ja aloinkin sitä töiden jälkeen leikkailemaan ja liimailemaan 😉
(Pikkusen on naama aina musta kun töissä tekee remonttia 😄)
Se on ihme miten se aina tarttuu varsinkin viiksiin... mukava käyä kaupassa tuollaisena Don Juanina 😄

Tähänhän ei paljoa peltiä tai muuta metallia tarvikkaan.
Ajattelin että teen pikkuisen isomman version ja teen siitä hyllylle laitettavan.

Itse tein varren, pätkästä harjaterästä.
Tämän päähän hitsasin pultin johon oli tarkoitus kiinnittää ruusunlehdet ihan muttereilla.
(Huomioi että pultti on tarpeeksi pitkä, monelle kerrokselle lehtiä : säätövara)

Hioin pulttipään sileäksi ja ohuemmaksi.
toisen pään jätin harjateräksen muotoon ja katkaisin sen viistosti.

Lämmitin ja väänsin sen koukun muotoon.
Eli tämänhän saa nyt sitten roikkumaankin johonkin jos hyllytilaa ei ole 😉

Sitten tähän tarvii jotain peltiä.
Itse käytin tähän melko paksua rosteria.
Ei saanut peltisaksilla leikattua.

Levystä leikataan 4-5 kappaletta erikokoisia ympyröitä. (suuresta, jokainen pienenee noin 1-3senttiä halkaisijaltaan. Riippuu ruusun koosta)

Leikkasin 5 ympyrää, mutta käytin lopuksi vain 4... En oo ennen tällaista tehnyt niin mittasuhteet oli vain niin ja näin 😁 (vähän rajut työkalut, mutta onnistu se näilläkin)

Ympyröiden keskelle porataan harjateräksen päässä olevan pultin kokoinen reikä.. Voi laittaa pari milliä isommankin terän jos jokin menee pieleen lehtien vääntely vaiheessa 😉

Koska isoimmat ympyrät oli aika suuria halkaisijaltaan niin leikkasin kahteen, isompaan 5 halkeamaa. Pienempiin vain 4.

Muistaa vain jättää tarpeeksi väliä reikään kun leikkaat halkeamat.

Sitten nämä putsasin ensin lamelli laikalla että sain epätasaisuudet ja isommat naarmut pois. Lopuksi sama lehdille ym.... Loppu puhdistus tehdäänkin sitten rälläkkään sopivalla teräs/pyöröharjalla

Sitten leikattiin levystä lisää paloja. Lehdet ja sitten tähden muotoinen pala... Jokainen saa ite päättää montako sakaraa tähdessä on 😆... Itsellä siitä tuli tällainen. Tästä tähtikuviosta tulee ruusun alaosa lehdet (kuva ensimmäisenä) Tiiättehä te mikä siinä ruusun alla on se epämuotoinen lehtiläjä 😁

Ei kyllä tarvisi nuin montaa sakaraa, mutta onnistu se näinkin.

Ja lehdet... Nämäkin on eri kokoisia, jonka tarkoitus paljastuu myöhemmin 😉

Tämä "tähti" vänneltiin muotoon lämmön, puristimen ja vasaran avulla.
(löin myös aluksi pienen uran lehtien keskelle että kaikki kääntyisi oikeaan suuntaan)

Ensin lämmitettiin punahehkuun ja sitten vaan ruuvipenkkiä kireälle.Vasaralla paukuttelin sitten kaaren lehteen

Kuten jo aiemmin taisin mainita, Työkalut on melko järeät. Kannattaa olla varovainen tuon lämmön kanssa ettei sulata metallia kokonaan 😄.
(jos käyttää ohutta peltiä, voi sen lämmittää myös käsitohon/minipolttimen/nestekaasupolttimen avulla 👍)

Lamelilaikalla sitten terävät reunat pois ja teräsharjalla puhdistus

Seuraavaksi vääntelin sitten nämä lehdet.
En tiiä oisko homma helpompi kun levyt vaan laittelis varteen ja vääntelis pienimmästä isompaan päin, mutta itse aloitin isoimmasta.

Laitoin pultin ruuvipenkkiin ja iso mutteri pohjalle (tämä pienenee, pienempiä lehtiä kohden), prikalla ja mutterilla kiinni.
yksi väli väännettiin ylös  ja taivuteltiin haluamaan muotoon... Muistaa vaan että kaikki tulevat lehdet tulee sitten tämän yhden päälle, niin taittelee reunat niin että toiset mahtuu kulmista lähelle.

Muistaa että sisään pitää mahtua ainakin se 3 samanlaista kääröä, eli ei kovin isoja muotoja.
Pienensin siis mutteria ja vääntelin uuden lehden... Sama lopuille.

Nyt Ruusun lehdet oli valmiit.

Sitten nämä varren lehdet.
Tein lehden suonet ihan vain rälläkällä ja putsasin teräslaikalla. Suonet tein kummallekkin puolen lehteä.

 Nämä laitoin siis hitsaamalla harjateräs runkoon kiinni. (En tiiä miksi tykkään enemmän hitsata puikolla, vaikka vieressä ois helpompiakin vehkeitä tähän hommaan 😅)

Ajattelin että laitan ruusun makaamaan hyllylle lehtien varassa, joten isoimmat lehdet kannattelee painoa ja pitää tasapainossa.
Parikertaa jouduin väänteleen lehtien muotoja, koska ruusu piti saada tasapainoon

Kyllä se lopulta löysi muotonsa, ja sitten olikin aika ruveta maalailemaan, vartta ja ruusun osaa.

Ajattelin että kyllä tässä pitää näkyä myös tuo kaunis metalli mistä se on tehty, niin maalasin vain kaikkien lehtien kärjet ja varren kärjen vihreäksi.

Sitten ruusu osalle sama homma. Sisäpuolelle laitoin enemmän punaista maalia, koska sitähän ei paljoa näy. (Suojaa paremmin rusteelta 😃)

Lopuksi laitoin vielä kirkkaan lakan kaikkiin osiin.

Sitten kun nämä oli kuivunut, oli kasauksen aika.

Sopiva prikka ensimmäisten lehtien alle ja lehdet päälle.

Sitten isoin ruusunlehti ja mutterilla kiinni. Seuraavan ruusu osan säädin toisella mutterilla oikeaan korkoon... Tässä tarvitaan sitä pultin mittaa ja säätövaraa.

Samalla tavalla loput ruusunlehdet kiinni ja kiristys viimeisen mutterin avulla.... Suihkauta myös lopuksi mutteriin maalia ja lakkaa.

Nyt ruusu oli valmis

Tein siihen myös tuollaisen sydän riipuksen johon kirjoitin synttärisankarin nimikirjaimet ja onnittelyt dremelin miniporalla 😉

Sellainen siitä tuli. Tämä kukka kyllä kestää ilman vettäkin... ja paremminkin niin 😅
Kyllähän siinä pieniä työstön jälkiä näkyy, mutta ei ne ruusut kaikki ole muutenkaan täydellisiä 😉

Pikkusen pelkäsin että tämä vuotaa jonnekkin internettiin ennenkuin ehdin tätä antaakkaan... Oli meinaa salama valoa pajassa juuri kun sain tämän valmiiksi 😄 Paljon tuli kehuja ja kyselyjä tästä työstä... Pitäs kuulemma tehdä pari lisää 😉😅

Surullisempia uutisia tähän loppuun. Isäni kuoli tuossa karkauspäivänä 29.2.2020. Syöpä on todella vaikea sairaus ja tässä tapauksessa parantumaton 😢 Kaipaus on kova ja hänelläkin jäi monta projektia kesken... Taidan yrittää tehdä ne loppuun, koska tiedän mitä hänellä oli mielessä... Paljon puhuttiin toteutuksista 👍

Ajattelin tehdä toisenkin tällaisen ruusun isän haudalle (valkoisena ja maahan upotettavana) johon voi myös ripustaa lyhdyn 💕, mutta ei enempää näistä surullisista asioista 😔

Metal rose, DIY. English version

HOW TO MAKE METAL ROSE

So, now i made this sort of metal rose for my wife for her birhtday. This one wont fade away or die soon. I dont have to buy rose every year now.... Just kidding 😆

I knowtised this sort of rose in some facebook group. It was made from paper, so i thought that it might be cool idea to try with metal. If i could use some heat to modify all the parts for it, it might work (I did find some videos later, that was made with metal)

Just got a pit busy, when i knowtised this present in wednesday, and tha party was saturday. So i started cutting and cluing this after work 😉
(Why do i always have so dirty face when i do some repairs at work... i dont even use my face at it)
Its a miragle how it sticks whit my mustache. People will looks two times when walking at the store with these Don Juan mustaches 😄

This project doesnt need much sheetmetal or other metals.
I thought that i make a bit bigger rose, and that it will lay at shelff.

I made the stem out of rebar.
I weldet bolt to end of it, so that would hold the rose petals at the end.
(Use long bolt so that theres adjustment room for petals when its time to put it together)

I sanded the rebar from bolts end smaller, and left the other end rebar looking.
Then i cutted the rebar to right lenght. Cut made sideways.

I heated the cut and bended it so it would make a hook.
Now you can hang it somewhere if theres no room at shelfs 😉

Then you need the sheet metal.
I used fairly thick stainles steel metal, that could not be cutted with metal scissors.

Make 4-5 circles (From biggest, every circle gets smaller 1-3sentimetres, depends of your rose size)



I cutted 5 circles, but used only 4... Havent done this before, so the measurements was just off.
(My tools was pretty rough, but it worked with these too  😁 )

Drill a hole to centre of the circles. Make it at least big enough to rebar bolt to fit through... You can make the hole 2 mil bigger, if theres something wrong when you start bending the rose petals 😉

Because i made the rose petals so big. i had to cut 5 slots at the bigger circles and 4 for the smaller.

Just remember to leave space between the hole and cut, so it wont break when bending.

Then i cleaned these metals with lamella disc so i could get bigger scratch off. Same job with the leafs later... Final cleaning is made with wirebrush.

Then we cut more pieces from sheet metal. Leafs and the star shape piece... Everyone can deside how many aisle there is😆...
Mine was like this. This will be the leafs under the rose (Picture at first)

It wouldnt need so manu aisle, but this worked too.

And the leafs. These are differen size, but the function will be revealed later 😉

I belded this start to its shape with heat, press and hammer.
(I did hammer some dents in the aisles, so it would bend to right way.)

First i heated this red and the pressed the shape with vide. Used the hammer to make the curve shape.

Like i mentioned before, my tools was a bit rough. Be carefull when heating these metals so they wont burn through 😄.
(If you use thinner metal, it can be heated with handhold heater 👍)

Lamella disc to get the sharp edges off, and the cleaning with wirebrush.

Next i bended these rose petals.

I dont know if this job would be easyer if you just put all the circles to the bolt, and then start to bend petals from smallest to biggest, but i started with the biggest.

I put extra bolt to vice and big nut over the circle. Tighten it with suitable nut. (Thise nuts gets smaller, when you get to smaller circles)

First you bend one leaf... Just remember that all of those smaller leafs comes inside this so not so bold curves.

I put on the smaller nut and smaller cirle. You can bend it close to nut when doing shapes... sma to rest of the rose petals

Now the petals was done.

Then these leafs to the stem.
I made the leaf vains with angle grinder and cleaned these with steelwire disc. Vains to both side of the leaf.

I welded these to rebar. (I dont know why i like to weld with stick, when theres much more easyer welding stuff near me  😅)

I thought that i make the rose so that it leand to its leafs, and you can put it to shelf.
So the bigger leafs carrys this rose and keeps it balanced.
I had to bend these leafs couple of times to get the balance right.

Finally got it to balance and it was time to paint the leafs, stem and rose petals.

I thought that i wont paint this whole. I just painted the leaf tops and the stem end green.

Then the same thing to rose part. I painted the inside full because it wont show so much... and it wont get so much rust 😃

Finally i added clear coat to the parts.

When these was dryed, it was time for the assembly.

Suitable washer under the first leafs, and the leafs to the top.

Then i added the biggest rose petals and tighten them on with a nut.
Second petal i raised with another nut and tightened it there... Here you need the room for the bolt to have adjustment space.

Same to all the rest of the petals and tighten with the last nut... Also add paint and varnish to last nut.

Now the rose was done.

I also added medallion to this with a chain. I writed there, happy birhtday and then the year and initials with Dremel minidrill  😉

Thats the finished product. This will last whitout water... and better that way 😅
Theres some marks that its hand made, but not all the roses are perfect  😉

I hade my doubts that this will leak to some internet site before i have time to give this to bitrthday hero... There was some photo takers when i got this finished  😄
There was also lots of guestions about this rose, and some requests that if i would do couple more of these 😉😅

What do you think? Would it be nice to have one of these as present, or would it be nice to make one?

Sad news to the end. My father died at leap year 29.2.2020. Cancer is diffucult disease and in this case incurable  😢
Miss him a lot. He did have few unfinished projects that i might try to make ready... We did talk lot about these, so i know how he thought of these projects

I thought i make another one of these roses to his grave (White, that stands in the ground) and i thought that i make it so that you can hang lantern on its leaf 💕.
But thats enough of these sad things  😔
