TEE SE ITSE PIHAKEINUT
(DIY, Yard swings. English version below)

Tuli väkerrettyä tällaiset keinut vanhan kangaskeinun tilalle, joka oli jo ratkeamis pisteessä.

VANHA KIIKKU

Patjan päälisethän tuosta on vaihdettu jo monta kertaa, ja nyt ne meni lopulta roskiin.

Oviremontista jäi lautaa yli ja vaimo ehdotti että tehdään kaksi erillistä keinua... Ok

No siinä vähän aikaa mittailtiin perseitä ja saatiin mitat ylös.
Sehän piti piirtää ensin paperille ja sitten laskea riittääkö lauta

SUUNNITELMA

Lautahan riitti, mutta tarvihan siihen paljo muutaki.
Ketjua, maalia, ketjukiinnikkeitä,  reikärautaa ym eli ei muutako kauppaan.

Pikkusen yli 60€ sinne uppos, mutta ostin myös tarvikkeita toista kiikkua varten jonka ajattelin kyhätä kokoon pojalle... mutta kirjottelen siitä sitten myöhemmin 😉

Laudat pätkiksi ja hionta ettei kovin tikkuja tartu perperiin. Poralla alkureiät ettei laudat halkea kun laittaa ruuveilla kiinni.
Laitoin myös liiman puden päihin että antais vähän enemmän kestävyyttä.

PUIDEN KIINNITYS

Naularautaa ostin tuohon istuinosan ja selkänojan kiinnitykseen, antamaan varmuutta kiinnityksessä.
Sehän piti väännellä muotoon että saa kunnolla kiinni lautoihin.

TUKIRAUTA

Ensin piti kasata kiikun runko ennenkuin aloin laittamaan rautoja paikalleen.
Sama homma ainaku kiinnitetään ruuveja puuhun. Pienemmällä poranterällä alkureiät, ja isommalla kannan upotus.

RUNGON KASAUS

Sitten ne raudat kiinni.

TUKIRAUDAT

Mietittiin että maalataanko laudat ensin vai sitten ku ne oli kasassa 🤔
No, kiikut kasaan ja sitten maalaus.

Tässä rakennusvaiheessa rupes taivaalta tulemaan pariki kertaa vettä, mutta sai ne tuossa katetussa välikössäki tehtyä...

KASAUS

Tässä piti vähän mittailla että pitikö laskelmat paikkaansa ja lautojen välit oli suunnitelmien mukaiset... No olihan ne ja väliä joka laudalle noin 5senttiä.
Tein vielä tuohon reunoille vielä lisä tuet vahvistukseksi.

LISÄ TUET

Maalaus vaan oli vähän arvelluttavaa ku ei viittiny sotkia vahingossakaa terassilautoja (vaikka nekin joutas jo vaihtaa 😉). Vähän muovia alle ja maalaamaan.
Ensin pensselillä vaikeimmat paikat ja telalla perässä.

MAALAUS

Sehän on tuo telalla maalaus pikkusen sotkusempaa hommaa, varsinki jos kiireellä maalaa niin saattaa vähän pisaroita roiskua 😃.
Ei saanu kerralla maalattua alta ja päältä, eli vähän joutu oottamaan maalin kuivumista ja sitten toiselta puolen sama homma.


Tämä ketjun kiinnitys olikin sitte eri asia. Tätä koitin miettiä, mutta arvelin että kyllä nuo neljä ketjua kestää ainaki 100kg... Jos vaan puu ja ruuvit kestää 😄

Ensin ketjujen mittailu ja katkaisu.

MITTAILUA

Laitoin neljä kappaletta näitä koukkuruuveja ja koitin ruuvata ne puuhun siten että ne ottaa kahteen lautaan. Vasaralla löin sitten koukun pään puuhun kiinni ettei ketju pääse pois.

KOUKKUJEN JA KETJUN KIINNITYS

Ostin myös näitä putki kiinnikkeitä jolla sai ketjut kiinni vanhaan kiikun runkoon.
Eihän ne kauniita ole, mutta toimivia.

PUTKIKIINNIKKEET

Ketjua vaan piti leventää että meni läpi putki kiinnikkeestä.
Levensin tuota ketjua puristimessa, mutta helpompi on ku pitää pihdeilla kiinni ja kopauttaa vasaralla jonkin kovan päällä.

Sitten vaan ketjut kiinni kiikun runkoon.

Mulla tuli joku mittavirhe toisissa ketjuissa, ja kiikku tuli melko takakenoon.
... Ajattelin että nopiaa leikkaan ketjun poikki, ja ajattelemattomuuttani rälläkkä lipes suoraan rystyseen...

Tein kumminki nämä kiikut loppuun vaikka kipu rupes jo tuntumaan kädessä.

KIIKKU PAIKOILLEEN

Vaimo oli saanu nuita tyynyjä siskoltaan ja nehä sopi hyvin näihin kiikkuihin.

KIIKUT VALMIINA

Vielä testailtiin että ne pysyy kasassa.

TESTAUS

Hyvin toimi ja taas menee pari vuotta 😉

Eihän tuo kuuma laikka niinkään tunnu ku se polttaa suonet ja kudoksen, eikä vertakaan niin paljo tuu enää. Mutta se osu luuhun eikä pysyny laastarilla kasassa 😊... pakko oli käydä ottaan tikit

TIKIT

Sitähän joutu käymään röntgenissä varmistaan että luu oli kunnossa ja haavassa e ollu rautaa. Kaikki oli kunnossa ja lääkäri joutu leikkaamaan reunoilta palaneen kudoksen pois että haava pääsee umpeutuun.

DIY, Yard swings. English version

I made these swings to replase the old one that was about to torn off.

OLD SWING

These matresses from this has been chanced many times, but now they went to dumb the last time.

We had to chance our doors to our house so there was much leftover wood. So my wife succested that i make two swings to replase the old one...Ok

We measured the hights and space with our asses and got the rough measurements... They will fit between the old swing 😂
Had to do some drawing so i could figure out if i had enough wood to make these.

PLAN

There was enough wood, but it still needed much more stuff to make.
Chain, Paint, Attachments, holeiron et cetera... so i had to go to store.

Spended more than 60€, but i also got stuff for the 3th swing that i made for my children... but i write about that later  😉

I cutted the wod to right size and sanded them so it doesnt have so much splinters that scrapes your ass.
Drilled some guide holes with drill so the wood doesnt crack when attaching with screws.
I also used some glue that will hold them together better.

ATTACHING THE WOOD

I also bought some holeiron so the backrest and seat has better hardines.
Had to bend it to shape so i could get it attached.

HOLEIRON

First i had to assembly these frame parts before attaching the irons.
Same stuff here. Always drill smaller hole to wood before drilling the screws in. I also made bigger hole fot the screw stem, so it will go hide inside the wood.

FRAME ASSEMBLY

Then the holeirons.

We thought that mayby it would be easyer to paint the boards first, but i desided to assembly the swings first and then paint 🤔

There was few showers of rain while i tryed to put this together, but i managet to assembly this in shelter.

ASSEMBLY

I had to make some measurements so that my drawing was correct still... and they were. There was 5sent cap between every board.
I also made some additional support for the sides.

SUPPORT BEAMS

I had some thought with the painting, because i didnt want to mess up my terrace deck (Those should be chanced too, but not this summer 😉).
Some plastic cover and paint.
First with paintbrush the hardest palces and then with roller the rest

PAINTING

This roller use is pretty messy, specially when u paint in rush. Roller just throws the paint drops everywhere 😃.
I couldnt paint the hole thing in the spot, so i had to wait for the paint to dry so i could paint from the other side.

This chain attachment was a bit tricky. I thought this chain will hold over 100kilos but the attachment to the wood was a bit different 😄

First i had to measure the hight for the swing and then the right lenght for the chains.

MEASURING AND CUTTING

I put four of these hook screws so that they screwed in to two boards (Hoping that it will hold the weight). This was the tricky part. Then i attached the chain and hit the hook end to the wood so the chain wont get loose.

ATTACHING THE CHAINS AND HOOKS

I also bought these exhaust clamps that will hold the chain at old swing frame.
They are nor pretty, but they work.

EXHAUST CLAMPS

I had to widen the chain so it could fit through the clamp.
I used my pressclamp, but it would be easyer to just hold the chain over some tough surface and hit it with hammer.

Then i had to attach the chains to swingframe.

I had some brainfart and the other chains was too long. The swings was too tilted.
... I thought i just cut these chains more... fast and not thinking what i was doing...
ofcourse the anglegrinder slipped and hit my hand...

I finished these swings anyway disipe of pain, and looked my hand later.

SWING IN PLACE

Wife got few of these pillows from her sister and they fitted here perfectly.

Still had to test that they will hold 😆

TESTING

Works great and will last few years 😉

Ok, so this cut that i made to my hand...
Grinders hot disk doesnt hurt much because it will burn all the tissue, so theres not much blood.
It turned out that it hitted the bone and didnt hold together with bandage 😊... Had to go emercency room to take some stiches

STICHES

They had to take some x-ray to be sure that it didnt damage the bone or didnt have any iron inside the tissue. It was ok, but they had to cut the edges to remove the burned tissue so that the cut will heal better
three stiches for small cut😒
Its all better now.
Be carefull when u use powertools, so this wont happen
